Martial Arts and Combat Sports constitute an inherently dangerous activity, but I/we have elected to (allow our child to) participate.

There are risks and dangers associated with participation in Martial arts and Combat sports and all other activities which could result in bodily injury, partial and/or total disability, paralysis and death.

Martial arts and Combats sports are strenuous activities that involve extensive contact with other people. Actions involved, but not limited to, are as follows: Falling to the ground, limb joint locks, strangulation, asphyxiation, strikes to the face, body and limbs.

These risks and dangers may be caused by the action, inaction or negligence of the participant or the action, inaction or negligence of others, including, but not limited to, the Releasees named below.

The injuries that may occur, but not limited to, are broken bones, sprained and/or torn ligaments, strained and/or torn muscles, contusions, abrasions, eye injury or loss, concussion, paralysis, and loss of consciousness and/or death. Long-term risks that may occur, but not limited to blindness, hearing loss, hematoma of the ears, paralysis, ligament damage, joint damage, spinal damage.

Close physical contact has been known to spread communicable diseases, such as, but not limited to COVID-19, herpes gladiatorum, warts, ringworm, staph, MRSA, impetigo.

Charlottesville BJJ has put into place preventative measures suggested by the CDC to help reduce the spread of communicable diseases, such as COVID-19. However, Charlottesville BJJ cannot guarantee that you or your children will not become infected with COVID-19. Attending any class or activity at Charlottesville BJJ could increase the risk and your children's risk of contracting COVID-19.

The social and economic losses and/or damages, which could result from these risks and dangers described above, could be severe.
